Ferry Farm Field School
The University of South Florida, in partnership with the George Washington Foundation, offers both undergraduate and graduate students a chance to gain hands-on learning at the site of George Washington's boyhood home in Virginia.
The six-week long field school (HIS 4900/6908) meets five days a week for eight hours each day in the field where students learn the essentials of excavation techniques, recording methods, artifact identification, regional history and archaeological theory. Students will attend a series of lectures, class discussions and field trips in addition to actual excavation and lab work.
